It's Just a Part of Life

It's an entirely unspecific blog, containing nothing more than the thoughts wandering through my overcluttered brain at any one time. Proceed with caution!

The Top 100

Stealing this idea from Jasmine's blog, I'm offering, in four easy installments, the top 100 things you didn't know you didn't know but always knew you didn't need to know about Kelly!! (Anna, you'd better do this too. I wanna see what you write!)

1. My middle name is Anne. With an 'E'. Don't you dare forget that 'E' or I might just throttle you.

2. I only wear 5 colors. Black, though not often, Beige/Brown, and all the intermingling shades both lighter and darker, Red, again not too often anymore, Dusky Green and Light Blue. I also own 1 purple shirt and 1 yellow shirt.

3. I always tilt my head to one side when my picture is being taken. I'm not entirely certain why.
4. I own 4 books that I read every year, no matter how busy or stressed I may get. They are: It By Stephen King, The Last Unicorn By Peter S. Beagle, Beauty By Robin McKinley, and The Complete Works of the Brothers Grimm By the Grimm Brothers.

5. I've always wanted to teach people. When I was younger I would dream of being a teacher. Right now I'm in college, getting my PhD in Victorian Literature so that I can teach college.

6. I have a hard time looking people in the eye. It makes me uncomfortable, like they can see parts of my mind or soul that I'm hiding away. So when I'm talking intimately with a person I look at the bridge of their nose. There are a few people I can look directly in the eye and they know who they are.

7. My earliest memory of reading is Edgar Allen Poe's poem The Raven. I went to Edgar Allen Poe School and there was an old and well worn edition of his complete works in the library there. I checked it out at least once a month, rereading my beloved poem.

8. I still watch cartoons. I'm partial to The Fairly Odd Parents, Jimmy Neutron, Spongebob, and Futurama. I think everyone should find time to watch a half an hour of these lighthearted shows. They're funny and laughing relieves stress.

9. I love anything scary. Horror movies, ghost stories, haunted houses, cemeteries and anything else that goes bump in the night. I think it's directly related to both my grade school being named after the master of American gothic writing (see # 7) and some of my fondest memories being of me sitting on my mother's bed, reading out loud from Stephen King novels to her when I was younger. But either way, I love studying local ghost stories, investigating said stories and photographing cemeteries.

10. I'm left handed, drive a stick shift, wear contacts, think bugs are horrifying, can't stand sea food, think the color pink is evil, drink waaaay too much Pepsi, eat pasta nearly every day, and try not to use the word 'hate' lightly.

11. Grumpy Bear is my patron saint. He's just so adorable with his sad little face and his raincloud tummy. I have one little stuffed Grumpy Bear on my bed and another on a shelf keeping watch over the room.

12. I own 3 pairs of shoes right now. A good solid pair of boots, a dressy pair of heels for special occasions, and a pair of sandals that I'll wear all summer long. I'm not a shoe person, nope. Don't take me into a shoe store, I'll most likely leave you there and wander off on my own.

13. I don't like listening to people complain about things that they can change very easily. For example: Don't come whining to me about being tired if you stayed up until 3 am waiting for your boy/girlfriend to call.

14. I have been blessed by the gods by being able to have two best friends whom I love and adore. Anna, who I've known since 3rd grade when she started at my school, and who has always been there for me, even in the darkest of times, and Jasmine, whom I met through fate and fate alone and who has held a special place in my heart since our first chance encounter. So long as I have these two people on my side I can face any hardship and drama in life.

15. I'm a Buffy freak.

16. I knit and crochet. I started knitting before it was "cool" and "trendy". I've made quite a few projects, most of which can be seen on my other blog http://www.knitwitty.blogspot.com

17. I still share a bedroom with my little sister. It drives me nuts. She makes messes, gets into my things, moves my stuff around so I can't find it, and monopolizes the TV.

18. I've never been a member of a club or organization.

19. I believe that I have a small bit of ESP. My head pounds a few minutes before I get bad news, and I often think of television shows (specific episodes I mean) a few hours before they show on TV.

20. I'm a Harry Potter freak.

21. I enjoy writing. In any form. Short stories, (bad) novels, (horrible) poetry, (lame) songs, I've even found the joy in writing a really well thought out essay. (Scroll down to see my short story Shivers, based on the computer game of the same name.)

22. I'm single and intend to stay that way for a good long time.

23. I'm totally against dieting and exercising for the sake of appearance. Do it for your health, to better your quality of life, to make yourself feel better about who you are, but NEVER for something so shallow as your appearance. If you judge yourself by your appearance the whole world will too.

24. I have a recurring nightmare where I'm standing alone in a room and a menacing figure is approaching me from behind, and while I can hear him coming and know that he's going to hurt me, I can never turn to face him or make myself run away. I always wake before he reaches me though.

25. I sing along to the radio, dance in my living room, laugh out loud when I'm watching TV and cry in the movie theater without feeling silly. It's my life, let the people watch and laugh, I'm going to have fun no matter what.
